About

A little about me.

I'm Jasmine Lubi, and I've never found it particularly easy to answer the question, "What do you do?"

I work in property and business. I have an MSc in Project Management. But somehow, whatever I'm doing, I keep finding my way back to people.

A client comes to me about a property and somewhere along the way, we're talking about life. Someone needs to make a difficult decision and I'm the person they call to think it through. Friends, family, clients, and sometimes complete strangers have trusted me with things that had nothing to do with how we met.

For a long time, I didn't think much of it. Then I started noticing the pattern.

Before property, project management or business, I studied Guidance and Counselling. Looking back now, perhaps my interest in people was never something I left behind. It simply followed me into everything else I did.

I have always wanted to understand the person behind the problem.

I'm naturally curious about why people do what they do. Why we stay in situations that make us unhappy. Why two people can experience the same relationship completely differently. Why we sometimes know what we need to do and still struggle to do it.

I've also learned that people don't always need an answer. Sometimes they need somewhere to say the whole thing without being interrupted. Sometimes they need a different question. Sometimes there is a practical next step. And sometimes what they're carrying needs support beyond anything I should try to provide.

Recently, that part of my life became much more public. I asked men online a simple question, "How are you?" More than 200 responses later, I found myself thinking much more seriously about mental wellbeing, vulnerability and whether we've actually learned how to listen when people do speak. I've written more about that in Mental Health, so I won't tell the whole story twice here.

What it did make me realise is that perhaps I should stop treating this side of myself as something that simply happens in the background.

I love property. I still invest in it, sell it and enjoy the challenge of business. I'm not trying to leave one version of myself behind to become another.

I'm more interested in what connects them.

Guidance and Counselling taught me to listen and look beyond the obvious. Project Management taught me how to take something complicated and give it structure. Property and business taught me how different things look when real people, real money and real decisions are involved.

And life keeps bringing me back to the same place: people trying to understand something, change something, build something or simply work out what comes next.

I don't need to have everybody's answers. I think there is something valuable in giving people enough room to find more of their own.

Maybe that's what I've been doing all along.
